I dreamed of a wedding of elaborate elegance; a scene filled with flowers and friends. I asked him what kind of wedding he wished for; he said one that would make me his wife.

I have unanswered prayers

I have trouble I wish wasn't there
And I have asked a thousand ways
That You would take my pain away
That You would take my pain away

I am trying to understand
How to walk this weary land
Make straight the paths that crookedly lie
Oh Lord, before these feet of mine
Oh Lord, before these feet of mine

When my world is shaking
Heaven stands
When my heart is breaking
I never leave Your hands

When You walked upon the Earth
You healed the broken, lost, and hurt
I know You hate to see me cry
One day You will set all things right
Yea, one day You will set all things right

When my world is shaking
Heaven stands
When my heart is breaking
I never leave Your hands

Your hands
Your hands that shape the world
Are holding me, they hold me still
Your hands that shape the world
Are holding me, they hold me still

When my world is shaking
Heaven stands
When my heart is breaking
I never leave You when...

When my world is shaking
Heaven stands
When my heart is breaking
I never leave...
I never leave Your hands

This song is by the wonderful JJ Heller. I heard her song on KSBJ a while back and it's really stuck with me. Obviously she has a gorgeous voice, but it's really the words that stuck with me.

We all have unanswered prayers, troubles and sorrows.  But you know what? God holds us through it all.  He protects us...he takes care of us.

Hopefully you didn't expect a big drawn out post about this.... I really just wanted to get this song out there...and get JJ heard.  Her lyrics are amazing.

If you have iTunes, download her entire album called "Painted Red".  You won't be disappointed. You could also just YouTube search her name and song title, which is "Your Hands".

Just a little thought provoking post...

I just mostly wanted to tell Him "Thank you."

I've been a bad blogger lately.   :(  Will you guys forgive me?

Time to update you on my running! Did really well the first week.  Stuck with the plan and everything. My second week had a few set backs.  I felt like crap. I went to the doctor and got antibiotics so things are now on the up and up.  Now I am on week 3 and Monday was my first running day back.  I am not going to sugarcoat it.  It blew.  I felt like I was dieing. But, I did it.  That's all I can say for that run... I did it.

Yesterday, Wednesday, I ran for the 2nd time this week. I've been carrying my iPhone and listening to music off it this week and decided to have a little fun while running. Let's face it, I needed something to keep my mind off the fact that I felt like I was hyperventilating.

The result??

Yah, I know. Goober. Really flattering, too, right?

My outcome?

I only walked 3 times and once was only for 30 seconds. Pretty proud of myself.  My achillies tendons have been screaming at me lately so I have been making sure to take anti-inflammatories (Are you proud, dad!?) throughout the day and not wear heels to work.  :)

My cool down walk around the neighborhood was pretty nice, too!

So pretty.  Now if only those sunsets came with warmer weather! Soon!!

I had to go out after this to look for a dress for this weekend.  Exciting stuff happening this weekend! On the way home, I was really craving ice cream.  I stopped in Randall's and they have these teeny tiny 1 cup servings of ice cream.  Genious! Just enough.

I was so excited to get home and devour this! I was disappointed though. Something was off.  It wasn't too good.  C'est la vie!

I will try to become more of a regular around here! :)

Good evening!  On tonight's menu was Jamaican Jerk Pork Chops and baked asparagus.  Are you drooling yet? ;-)

Before we get to pics and the list of ingredients and directions, I just have to say, these were really good! The best part was that they were easy!  Tasty and easy puts it at the top of my list for making again! Simplicity!!

Ingredients:

  1. 4 boneless pork loin chops, cut 3/4 inch thick
  2. 3 tablespoons orange juice or grapefruit juice (I used OJ!)
  3. 2 teaspoons Jamaican Jerk or steak seasoning (I used the JJ!)
  4. 1 tablespoon cooking oil
  5. 2 tablespoons dijon-style mustard (I used Emeril's Dijon)
  6. 1/3 cup orange marmalade (I used Kroger brand, found in jelly section)

I spy some wine? :-)

Directions:

  1. Brush both sides of pork chops with 1 tablespoon of the orange juice. Sprinkle both sides with seasoning (jerk or steak seasoning). In a 10-inch skillet cook chops in hot oil over medium heat for 8-12 minutes or until internal temperature of chops registers 160 degrees F on an instant-read thermometer, turning once halfway through cooking. Remove skillet from heat. Transfer chops to another platter.

Optional steps include turning on some gnarly tunes and having a super-awesome apron on!

Oh yah, I can still groove to 'N Sync!

A true cajun girl!

 Back to real directions:

  2.  For sauce, stir mustard into skillet drippings. <--- so wrong, yet so right. Whish in marmalade and remaining 2 tablespoons orange juice. Return to heat. Cook and stir until just boiling.

  3.  Pour sauce over chops.

(Gotta love iPhone pics!)

As a side, I roasted some asparagus. Just some olive oil drizzled over the top with salt and pepper.

Hopefully Andrew enjoys this meal when he gets home in the morning! :-)

Goodnight!

Today was day numero uno of my 5k training for my race on March 20th!  Wait, I didn't tell you about that?

My bad.

I decided to sign up for a 5k (3.1 mile) race on March 20th with a few friends and I believe my daddy (yes, I still call him daddy!) is going to run, too!

Day one looked like this:
Actually, let's start off the night before...Sunday night...didn't sleep a wink! Alarm blares at 5:15am for me to get up and go run.  No thanks... think I'll continue to TRY and sleep.  I will run after work. Go to work, stand up all freakin' day doing "busy" work, my feet are hugely (and grossly) swollen, I get off at 5, drive home and STILL have to run.  Yah, it was a goooood day.

See my stats below. Not too shabby! And, I didn't freeze my heiney off! +!!

The run was run 2 minutes, walk 1 x 10! Total of 30 minutes of glorious exercise!

If you can't read it... it says 30:00 minutes = 2.55 miles.

PLUS! I got paid to run last night! Are you lost yet?  Look what I found on the sidewalk!!! NO JOKE!

I found the $50 all crumpled up and soaking wet and about 1 minute before my run was to be finished I saw 12 cents! I made $50.12 last night!

No worries, people. This went straight into our "One Year Anniversary Vacation" fund!

One day down, 29 more to go!

Well, besides of course having a brood of children and an amazing husband. :)

As I said in my last post, I have been craving that competitive part of myself.  I miss pushing myself to limits that once seemed impossible.  I miss the actual HURT of pushing myself above and beyond.  To the limits.  I miss it terribly.

And while I am terribly out of shape at the moment, I know what I am physically capable of when I train and stick to a plan.

I don't know if this is something I will do before or after I have kids or if I CAN even achieve it.  I do know, though, that I want to try.  It's all about having confidence in myself and having other peoples support along the way.

It's about going for something you really want...even if it may be far fetched.  It's about having no regrets. You can never regret something, even if it doesn't work out as long as you have given it your best shot, right? At least you tried.

As I said, I don't know when this will be.  1 year, 5 years, 10 years....who knows.  It doesn't matter...I am going to do everything I can to get there.

I want to be an Iron Woman.

Hi, my name is Stephanie and I have a problem with making commitments.

There, I said it!

About 7 or 8 months ago I decided that I was going to run the Chevron Houston 1/2 Marathon.  I was excited and totally motivated.  I was sticking with running.  I was running at least 3 times a week...consistently. Then something happened.  I got married on November 7.  Right in the prime of my training.  Yah, yah.  What an excuse right?  I know it really shouldn't be an excuse because I should have known better than to try and train for a 1/2 marathon and plan a wedding, right?  Wrong. I tried.  The thing is, I didn't complete it.  I didn't even try running it. I think I did the right thing by not going out there and overdoing it and hurting myself, but I've honestly been having a really rough time dealing with the fact that I didn't do it.

How embarrassing.

I told tons of people what my plan was! Ugh.  I just can't help but want to dig a hole and climb in it until people forget.  You see, I've always been athletic.  There was never an issue there, but once I quit soccer in college I lost that part of my life.  I CRAVE that part of myself.  The incredible self-confidence.  Motivation.  The challenge. All of it. It's gone.  Have I lost anyone yet? I know I am jumping around a lot. Sorry.

The point is, I made a plan and I didn't follow through with it and I am really hating myself for it. I c.a.n.n.o.t. LET IT GO! It's really affecting my mood because I feel like a failure to myself and others and my self confidence has plummeted.

I need to do something.

So what did I do?  I went and made ANOTHER plan.  Sheesh. Really? Yah, really.

Here it goes.

There it is!

I start Monday, February 1.  This plan is SEVEN weeks and guess what! As luck would have it, at the end of the 7 week mark there is a race in Houston.  March 20, 2010.  I am racing a 5k.

HOLD ME TO IT!

Ask me how it's going. What I did the day before.  What I am doing that day.  Why did I not run....

I need to do this for myself, but I need others to be accountable to.

So, who's gonna help? Who is going to hold me accountable?

More importantly....who wants to train and run the race with me?

I have to do this for myself.

Everyone go over to my cool friends blog and tell her HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!! :)

This weekend went by way too fast.  Very unfortunate.  Andrew worked Friday night and when he got home Saturday morning he wasn't tired so we went and ran some errands.  Around lunch we were starved and decided to go to Freebirds.  It just opened up in Pearland and Andrew has never had it before.  Sinful, I know.

Okay, for those of you who have never met my husband... he is weight challenged.  As in, really thin.  He is one of those men who can eat WHATEVER and never gain an ounce. Unlike me who thinks of a saltine and gains a pound automatically. I just don't understand it.  Okay, anyway, off my soapbox.  The point of the story is, he is really thin and ordered the HUGE burrito.

It's bigger than his thigh!  ;)

Here's my spread... I decided to eat "healthy", so I went for a burrito bowl.

Tortilla on the side. :)

Seriously though, I kid you not... I was chatting with him and next thing I knew I looked up to this....

I don't know how the boy does it...where does it all go?  He was ONE BITE from being done.  He had no leftovers.  I had almost my whole bowl leftover.  I think Andrew's first visit to Freebirds was a success, no?

Sundays are always reserved for football watching. Ask me how much I love it.  : /  Apparently Bailey loves it, too, huh???

Doesn't this remind you of the Wizard of Oz when the Wicked Witch has her feet sticking out from under the house that fell on her?  :) Yah, I thought so too!

Apparently Freebirds was the light of our weekend. Oh well, can't win them all, right?

PS:  Does anyone have any miracle cures for zits?  I rarely ever get them but my face decided to hate me and sprouted two ugly ones this weekend.  Please help! They're talking to me....

LOL

Tonight Andrew is watching scary movies in an attempt to stay up late since he works tomorrow night.  I detest scary movies, so I've been playing around on the internet all evening.   :)  Did you notice that lovely music player on the right side? Yah, that was me.

Anyways, the real point of this post is to link this.

It's about 55 minutes long, so make sure you have time to sit down and watch.  It's too good to start and have to leave.  It will make you angry, make you sad, make you grateful and will make you live.

Always live like there will be no tomorrow. Live to have no regrets.

Go watch this video.

For Christmas, my awesome husband got me a Beginners Singer Sewing machine.

All I have to say is, if this is a beginners machine, I don't want to see a more advanced one for a loooong time! It took me two and a half hours to thread the bobbin and the needle through the machine.  Bobbin was easy. Threading the top of the machine down to the needle, not so easy.  There was this step I couldn't get past.  I tried and tried and tried. Cursed myself, cursed myself, cursed myself. What was I thinking!? I've never sewn before in my life.  By God, I was determined to finish my first "EASY" project.

After threading the machine, it was 10:30PM.  Please keep in mind, I am usually in bed by 10PM at the latest.  I pondered going to bed, then decided that if I didn't finish this project now, I would probably put it off.  So, a sewin' I went!

So, here is what I was trying to make.  A coffee coozie.  Looks simple enough, right?

                                                                  Courtesy of http://oursoftspottoland.blogspot.com

Wrong! I should have known this would be a disaster.

Actually, to be quite honest with you, the only thing that really went wrong, is the hook (hair elastic) that I originally had sewn onto the outer fabric didn't (SOMEHOW) get flipped out to the outer portion when I had sewn all the edges and went to turn the fabric right side out.  All in all, I suppose, it didn't turn out TOO bad.  Right?

Don't let this fool you.  There were many times that I had sewn the seam right off the pattern.  Oh yah.  Thank goodness for seam rippers, right? :)

My first thought when I pulled this off the machine at 11:45PM was....

Yah, I'm pretty much awesome. To be totally honest, my coffee coozie looks more like a huge pad.  Otherwise known as a "Sanitary Napkin." I had to add that in there so my mom wouldn't faint from her daughter using the incorrect term.  Shame on me. So, if anyone wants to go more "GREEN" (not the color, the act of using less, etc.) let me know.  Apparently I am stellar at sewing pads.  Oh! AND, they have a really absorbent core! There is felt inside :) Just wash and.... Okay, I crossed the line.

After having a laughing fit about my stellar project completion, I decided maybe Bailey could play with it. His reaction???

Yah, he just stared at me. He didn't know what to do with it either.  **SIGH**

LOL.

I showed this to my mom and she said she thought it was great for my first sewing project. Only a loving mother would say that to her DIY failure daughter.  :) Love you, mom!

But really, if that hook of rubberband would have been on the outside, all I would have had to do was sew a button on.  So, I guess in the grand scheme of things...not too bad, right?

**rolls eyes**

Hi guys! Oops! I stayed away too long, huh?  My bad! :)

So, Christmas happened and New Years happened.  Whoo! Yes, I plan on recapping these occasions! No fear.   I hope I don't bore you with tons of pics a videos though.  There's quite a bit though, so grab a cup of hot chocolate, coffee, wine...whatever.   I won't judge :)

So, every year we all get together to do Christmas cookies a few weeks before Christmas.  This year, only a few of us could get together because of conflicting schedules but we had tons of fun anyway!

There seemed to be a certain little boy who thought it was the bees knees to throw toys into the toilet.  Luckily Kyle, the oldest nephew (ALMOST 15!) caught him.

Andy got the privilege of fishing out the toys from the toilet water.  MMMMM....

Great Papa got to come along as well. It was really nice to have him there!

THEN, only a few short days later came Christmas!

Christmas Eve is spent at the O'Donnell household.  We have a special dinner with extended family and then, when everyone skeedaddles (is that a word?), we get to open presents!! A huge gift this year, which will greatly increase the fun of my blog, was an iFlip!!! Heck yeah!! I see many videos in the near future. We had a wonderful time over there that night!

I know, I am a dork! :) Tis the season! Hehe.

So, on to Christmas Day! We were off to my parents house around 10. My mom couldn't believe I wasn't there yet. Hey mom, I have a husband to take care of now! :) We got there and both ripped into our presents. We both got tons of great things and couldn't wait for the kiddos to start arriving to open their presents. It's bedlam in that house on Christmas morning! I love it though! I will just post some pics and then some videos at the end. :)

Welcome to the family Andrew, now you officially have to help put toys together at Christmas :)

My nephew, Eli, got an Etch a sketch! Haven't seen one of those in a long time!

They grow up way TOO fast!

She is the spitting image of her mommy!

Why, Hello!!

My Husband!

Someone must have been telling an interesting story :)

They love their Uncle Andrew!

Okay, ready for some videos??? Good!

My youngest nephew, Ethan.  He was playing with a puzzle he got for Christmas and really cheezin' it up for his Granny, who obviously needs to pay more attention :)

A sweet thank you and some cookin'!!

No rest for the kiddos!

A little bit of everything!

It was a wonderful holiday and I am lucky to have the two best families in the world. Hope everyone had a fabulous holiday as well and got to spend it with the people you love the most.

Okay, New Years post is next time. :)

O'Donnell's
There is a reason for the season, you know.  We all tend to get caught up in gift buying, decorating, parties, etc so much so, that we rarely, if ever, stop long enough to remember why we celebrate Christmas.

Why DO we celebrate Christmas, you ask? Allow me to tell you! :)

We celebrate Christmas out of Love. Actually, we celebrate God's act of love for us by sending His one and only son to save the world. God sent his son to us to take punishment for all our sins. In case you didn't get the picture yet....when Christ was born, our salvation began.  We should be giving gifts to celebrate the birth of our Savior, not just because we need new clothes or a Playstation.

We shouldn't take off work to Christmas shop or decorate.  We should take off work to give to those less fortunate than us, to go to Church and to celebrate the birth of Christ. To sing to Him. To reach out for Him. To show our LOVE for Him who gave up everything for all of us.

I am truely making an effort this year to stop as often as I can and to think about that. You should too.  After all, it's the reason we are all here.  The reason we can have families, friends, dogs, cats, shoes, homes, etc.  All of it.

Take some time this Christmas season to stop and tell Him how much you love Him and what He did for us.

He is the reason for our Peace.

Okay, this one is the BEFORE!

Here is my hubby opening up ornament boxes.  He is thrilled. Trust me.

No, the pic below wasn't posed or anything...

I LOVE my Nativity Scene.  Cutest ever.

These are 3 very important people! VIP!!

What to do with all those leftover ornaments?? You'll see these again...

More leftover ornaments.  Now hanging from the bar area.  Very sparkly!

The AFTER!

I have a slight snowman obsession. Tree Skirt. Otherwise known as Bailey's new favorite place to roll around and get black hair all over.   : /

Very festive candle!

The outside. 90% done. Still working on getting the lights to come on in that little tree up front.  Work in progress.  Andrew will get RIGHT on that this weekend.

Front window.  Says "Let it Snow." with snowmen and snowflakes.  Fitting as it MIGHT snow tomorrow. Which I will be at work for. But I'm not bitter about it.

Told ya you'd see those leftover ornaments again.  Those angels my mom and I made like 5 years ago!

My SLIGHT obsession with snowmen continues....

I spy a few more snowmen. And a santa and a tree!!!

Is it?  Could it be!!? Another snowman!!!

Small angel in the little alcove area up front.

Maybe SLIGHT is the wrong word....

Hooray! Check out those picture taking skills!!

Awww....homemade ornament! I was kinda cute!

Andrew was more cute.

Our kids will be awesome.

This ornament is a LOT more sparkly in real life!!

You know I had to....HIIII!!

Merry Christmas!!

Phew! That was exhausting! :)

Don't forget the true reason for the season!!!

XOXO
